Betty C. Biel, 91, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Betty was born June 27, 1928 in Gladstone, ND to Mike and Elizabeth (Huth) Willer. She lived in rural Gladstone with her parents and sisters (Evelyn, Ann Marie, Gerry) until moving to Dickinson where she graduated in 1946. After high school she worked at S&L. Betty married Nick Biel on May 17, 1949 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Together Nick and Betty made their home Northwest of Lefor and had nine children: Nicolette, Chad, Brenda, Michael, Stacy, Barney, Blake, Todd and Kent. Betty was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Christian Mothers of St. Elizabeth’s. She enjoyed baking, embroidery, playing games (like bingo & dominoes.) and loved having visitors. Her family and her faith were very important to her.

Betty moved into Evergreen in 2018. Nick and Betty were able to have family gatherings there, including celebrating their 70th anniversary. Many staff and fellow residents will miss this sweet lady with the beautiful smile.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grand/great grandmother. She is greatly missed by her husband of almost 71 years, Nick (who splits his time between Evergreen and the farm); children: Nicolette Estrada of Mesa, AZ; Chad (Anita) Biel of Dickinson; Brenda (Bob) Kuylen of South Heart; Michael Biel of Dickinson; Stacy (Peggy) Biel of Billings, MT; Blake Biel of Dickinson; Todd Biel of Fargo; Kent Biel of Fort Lupton, CO; 23 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by son, Barney Biel; granddaughter, Stephanie Kuylen, great grandson, Finnley Simonieg; son in law, Jim Estrada; her parents, sisters, family and in-laws too numerous to mention.
