Shirley passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at St. Luke’s Home.

Shirley was born in Cadillac, SD, on June 14, 1935, the daughter of Oliver and Florence (Tilley) Siedschlaw. As a young girl, she grew up in the McLaughlin, SD, area, graduating from Bowman High School in 1953. Shirley worked in the Bowman area as a nurse’s aide in St. Luke’s Tri-State Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Thom and Dr. Ahlness at the Bowman Clinic. It was during this time that she met William “Bill” Winczewski, her future husband. Shirley and William were married on March 23, 1962, and their marriage was blessed with three children. They moved their family to Dickinson in 1970. Shirley went to work for Dr. Ordahl and later retired in the early 1980’s. Shirley and William loved their lake place on Mosset Bay where they spent summers for over 30 years. She loved fishing and hunting. Together they enjoyed many cruises and time spent together at Dakota Diner and McDonald’s. Shirley was a passionate shopper and brought home many treasures, always proud of the deals she was able to find. Shirley took great pride in the flower gardens that surrounded her home.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William Winczewski; sons, Brad of Schaumburg, IL, Todd (Leslie Larkins) of Granby, CO; daughter, Kari (Kelly) McNary of Wahpeton, ND; four grandchildren, Lauren Winczewski, Allen Winczewski, Kaitlin McNary, Kameron McNary; sisters, Roberta Engesser of Spearfish, SD, Donna (John Heming) of Fruitdale, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Florence Siedschlaw; brothers, Alan and Otto (Bernie) Siedschlaw; sister, Betty (Max) Christensen; brother-in-law, Tiny Engesser.

Our deepest condolences to Shirley’s family. I can remember Shirley riding down to our house to pick up Mom to go out to eat or go shopping. While waiting for Mom, Shirley would be sitting at the kitchen table, smoking a cigarette (or two), and giving some advice, or telling a story. Sometimes good advice or not, true story or not, serious or funny. She was always talking. Shirley and Mom are riding together once again in Heaven.

Deepest condolences to Shirley's family. My mom and Shirley were good friends and spent so much time together that people often mistook them for sisters. One of their favorite places to eat was Bonanza, and Shirley would typically pack some pickled herring from the buffet in one of her ample purses for later.
Shirley was pleasantly quirky, funny and caring ,always on the hunt for the latest bargain. She was one in a million, I will never forget her. Prayers and peace to her loved ones.

My heartfelt condolences to Shirley's family. My fondest memory is of Shirley and my Mom riding off to coffee on Shirley's motorcycle. May they ride together in peace once again.

My deepest condolences. I have fond memories of stopping at your house and talking with your mom. And looking at her latest haul from the store
